Our Mission

At the Dover Library Media Center we believe success in school begins with a love of learning, especially reading. We believe, our media center is the heart of our school and an integral part of our curriculum. It is our philosophy that the Library Media Center exists for the purpose of helping young learners learn to read and begin a life- long love of reading and learning through books, media materials, and technology. Our staff is committed to encouraging, helping, and promoting young readers in the use of books and various forms of technology that is appropriate for them to be successful.

We invite you to visit our Library Media Center to see what is available. We offer thousands of books for your reading pleasure. Our library offers an online card catalog as well as an online research database to aid in research. Please see the Media Specialist for the username and password for the DISCUS site. Our collection contains age appropriate informational text and fictional titles, including picture books, beginning chapter books and more difficult chapter books for advanced readers. We also have a great selection of biographies.

The library hours are Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 3:30 pm.

We offer an open check out schedule anytime the library is open.  Students in PreK, Kindergarten, First and Second Grades are allowed to check out 1 book at a time. Third - Fifth grade students are allowed to check out 2 books at a time. Students are only charged a fine when the book they had checked out is returned damaged or they do not return the book(s) at all. There are no late fines.

Parents are encouraged to volunteer by shelving books or being a guest reader in the library. Please come in and check out books with and for your child. Each class visits the library to check out a book(s) once weekly.
