Sion Durant, a fifth grader at Dover Elementary School and the winner of the school-level MLK Oratory Competition, delivered his speech at the district level competition in Orangeburg at New Mount Zion Church on January 16. He spoke about his dream for safer neighborhoods and for South Carolina’s transformation into a refuge for freedom and justice. For his speech, he received an honorable mention.
